CSA Licences

All cyclists in South Africa wishing to take part in any event (other than recreational training) need to be registered with Cycling South Africa, the national umbrella organization under which all provinces and clubs fall.

The CSA licencing procedure for 2011 is as follows:

  • Everyone (who intends to do any cycling events/races in SA) should go to the CSA Website and register as a member of CSA. http://www.cyclingsa.com/member.aspx
  • Once you are a member - if you require a Full Racing Licence, you need to then apply online for this. A Full Licence is required for SA Champs and certain provincial events. You can however, upgrade at any stage during the year to a full licence, so if you're not sure whether you'll actually need one, you can always wait a while, but you should still have registered on the site as a member of CSA.
  • For the majority of cyclists who need only a CSA Membership Licence, your PPA membership will entitle you to this. Again, however, you should still register as a CSA member on the CSA website, for validation and approval purposes.
  • If you purchased a CSA licence when entering the Argus (should not apply to too many Western Cape cyclists as the majority are PPA members which automatically qualifies you for CSA membership), you still need to just go on to the CSA website and register for validation and approval purposes.
  • Should you wish to renew any Support Licences, eg Manager, Mechanic etc, please download the manual form from the CSA Site. Again, you need to first register as a member, before you will see the necessary form to download.

If you have any other questions regarding the CSA licencing, please either check the CSA Website Q&A section(http://www.cyclingsa.com/member.aspx), use the feedback form on the CSA site; or mail me, karen@club100ct.co.za.
